Book Review: The Binding by Bridget Collins The Binding by Bridget Collins is a magical realism novel with a gothic atmosphere. Though the book starts slow, it did pick up when the story of Emmett as an apprentice of bookbinder begins. But, one day, he finds his own book and it’s when the story unfolds. He learns binding people, their secrets, their memories, their grief and stores them in library vaults where they’re kept safe forever. The art of bookbinding is not limited to crafting only beautiful books, but it embraces memories. ‘The Binding’ is a story of Emmett, a farmer boy who starts his apprenticeship under a bookbinder. Besides, the blurb is absolutely compelling and so the whole idea of the bookbinding.
